This photoCD follows visits to Lisbon, Oporto and Sintra where trams are still very much a part of everyday life. Whilst modern LRVs are now operated in both Lisbon and Oporto, older heritage trams are still retained. The old cars in Lisbon, operating the hilly routes are a remarkable survival in this busy city that suffers severe traffic problems.

 
Although very much a tourist operation, the fortunes of the Sintra tramway have improved considerably in recent years with re-opening of the track to the main railway station and extensive overhaul work on the active tram fleet.
